SAME-SEX SPOUSE: AN OXYMORON

In nature, the simple and manifest design function of male and female sexual organs is the procreation of the species. The hormonal, genetic and psychological aspects of human nature in an overwhelming preponderance of humans, act and react to drive the performance of that function, to share in the miracle of birth, the creation of new human life.

Homosexual and lesbian sexual activity is devoid of the possibility of new human life. Perhaps the blind rage consuming so many members of that community is a subconscious reaction to that fact and to the refusal, by a great majority of Canadians, to pretend their relationships are the same as conjugal relations in a traditional family with children to form the next generation.

From 1939 - 1943 I lived in a university men's residence. During that period, there were six or eight homosexual residents. In retrospect, with very few exceptions, the conduct of all concerned was governed by what later came to be the maxim adopted by the U.S. Armed Forces within the last decade, "Don't ask, don't tell." The roughly equivalent saying of those earlier times was, "Live and let live."

It is my clear recollection and conviction that no one in that society suggested that there was any equivalence between homosexual relations and the heterosexual union of man and wife to found a family unit resulting in children as a contribution to the next generation in our society. Two of my close friends, now deceased, after discharge from the armed forces post WWII, abandoned their homosexuality, married and raised commendable families with their wives.

The regenerative health and vitality of the Canadian family - husband/wife, father/mother and their sons and daughters -- are pivotal for the continuum of the Canadian society in the which its members, including most of the parents of homosexual and lesbian activists and this writer, were born and raised. If this be true, recognition of that basic fact should be the prime consideration of public policy in all matters affecting Canadian families.

Opposition to the single-minded agenda of EGALE (Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere, a radical lobby group) is NOT discrimination, but stems from a conviction that there is a clear categorical distinction between the heterosexual union of married husbands and wives, which produces children, and same-sex unions, which are devoid of the prospect of regeneration: a basic biological, spiritual and social difference.

Tomb-Like Silence of the Homosexual Community About Risks to Life and Health

The Social Organization of Sexuality, published by the University of Chicago Press in 1994 was hailed in such responsible journals as the New York and London Times Book Reviews as the most thorough and definitive research of the subject matter ever published. Anyone who has a serious and intellectually honest desire to obtain reliable scientific information is referred to Chapter 8, "Homosexuality," where the evidence of high risk to life and health of homosexual activity is overwhelming.

As the scientific research of this publication makes clear, all of the contrary propaganda is in support of a minuscule percentage of the total population, although its members are concentrated in a very few major cities in positions of major influence from which they carry on a strident campaign to advance their radical agenda. In Canada, this agenda is vigorously pursued in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.

In my respectful opinion, the pretension that a homosexual mating is equivalent to a heterosexual union producing a new generation is a self-justifying obsession. Emphatically, it denigrates the traditional family of parents and children which urgently needs all the encouragement, support, respect and admiration it can get from our society.

All of the above is based on a major premise: unless members of society possess and practice an ethos -- that is, a prevalent and substantial consensual agreement on acceptable norms of human conduct which impels conformity with such norms (in other words, a self-governing conscience) -- there develops an escalating slide toward its antithesis, which is chaos.

The ethos of our society for centuries has been Judeo-Christian: we have no other. Once corrupted beyond redemption, there will be no replacement within any predictable time frame. The fall of Rome was succeeded by a period of chaos universally called "The Dark Ages". Only within the last millennium did we experience a significant, partial restoration of our ethos.

Every reader of this article is invited to examine all aspects of the society in which we live and to make a judgment about whether, and if so, how far we have descended on the slippery slope to chaos. (I would imagine that reading Reality would give plenty of food for thought.)
