REAL Women of Canada Annual Conference
Strengthening Marriage and Family in the New Millennium
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
April 8, 2000

REAL Women of Canada launched the millennium with a marvelous conference held in Saskatoon on April 8, 2000. We couldn't have found a better way to begin the new century. The Saskatchewan Chapter did an outstanding job, both in its choice of speakers and in its organizational efforts.

Everything ran like clock-work, but best of all, was the warmth, love and concern that the speakers and the audience shared. Together, we felt we were a team moving forward together to create a better future for our children.

The conference had been preceded the previous evening by REAL Women's annual business meeting covering the practical aspects of our organization.

For example, the President, Jeannine Lebel and Treasurer, Sophie Joannou, gave reports outlining the previous year's activities. An auditor for the next financial year was also appointed. Elections were held for the new Board 2000 - 2001. Finally, we voted on the resolutions, one on Breast Cancer and Induced Abortion, and the other on Assisting Drug Addicts.

The highlight of the weekend, however, were the speakers. They challenged us, warmed our hearts, inspired us and renewed our hope that the days ahead, although undoubtedly difficult, will have a silver lining and eventually result in tangible changes for the better in our nation's destiny.

For the benefit of those who were unable to attend our conference, we are pleased to provide you with a summary of the talks.
