PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
Two exhausted
members of REAL Women have returned home after a successful tour
of the Maritimes where they gave a series of talks in 6 days, with
two scheduled on the first day alone. This trip certainly demonstrated
the dedication of these two members for the pro-family, pro-life
cause. Thank you, Kathie McGann and Cheryl Lebel, for your wonderful
work.
The early call of the federal election resulted in many of our members
scrambling to find men or women of principle to seek the nomination
for their respective political parties. Several were successful,
with most pro-life/family candidates finding a comfortable home
in the Canadian Alliance party. Our Ottawa office was asked to inform
our members of a candidate seeking the nomination in their area
who supported our aims and objectives. The National Office rallied
to this call for help and did its best to notify our members. As
always, we urged them to offer their help and get involved.
REAL Women,
as you know, mailed out an election questionnaire to each of our
members. This questionnaire was developed to ask the hard questions
of prospective candidates. It is essential to know were they stand
on social issues. We should never offer assistance to any candidate
who does not support our aims and objectives. We must elect pro-life,
pro-family members of Parliament if we ever want to see our legislation
enacted.
The World March
of Women's outrageous demands never seem to end. Their list now
includes 100% ratification of CEDAW (the Convention for the Elimination
of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women), which is a blueprint
for a feminist society. That is, while the title itself sounds worthy,
the activist contents of the document are not mainstream, but extreme.
Unfortunately, for example, for the innocent Christians who supported
the March, CEDAW calls for the end of freedom of religion. This
Convention also calls for the end of Sovereignty, Canadian federalism,
freedom of speech, capitalism and democracy!
Global feminists
knew they would never get support from mainstream women for their
radical agenda, so they cloaked it in sympathy for poor and abused
women. Then the feminists kept adding new demands in the months
leading up to the March in October in Ottawa. Their widened agenda
included a new world economic order, the abolition of the World
Bank and International Monetary Funds, and sanctions by the International
Criminal Court for anyone from any nation that objects. The World
March of Women demands were a package deal - all or nothing. There
is no opting out of any one demand.
Just as expected,
on October 17, 2000, in New York City and Washington, DC, World
March participants and organizers held signs with the following
messages:
-Against
Abortion? Don't Have One
-God is an abbreviation for Goddess
-Lesbian rights NOW - Rise to the Challenge
-Forced Pregnancy Increases Church Membership
-I asked God, She's Pro-Choice
-If Men Became Pregnant, Abortion Would Be a Sacrament
-Sorry I've Missed Church, I've Been Busy Practicing
Witchcraft, Becoming a Lesbian
-God Please Save Me From Your Followers
-Warning: Vatican Statehood is Dangerous for Women's Health
Hatred of the
Catholic Church and of all those who believe in God is certainly
evident in the slogans on these signs. There is little more REAL
Women can do but pray that Christian signatories will terminate
their support of the World March of Women and put an end to this
radical agenda, which is not supported by the vast majority of Canadian
women.
As we come
to the end of this century, I wish you a Holy and Merry Christmas.
May God bless and guide us, as we begin a new journey into the 21st
Century.
