Dr. Hymie
Rubenstein
Dr. Hymie
Rubenstein is Professor of Anthropology at the University of Manitoba
where he has been teaching since 1973. Professor Rubenstein acquired
his BA, 1966; M.A. 1968; Ph.D. 1976 from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Rubenstein
has been interested in Canadian public policy issues since 1995
and has written dozens of newspaper and other pieces on such topics
as academic accountability, student performance standards, pay equity,
and unionization. He is a foreign fellow of the American Anthropological
Association and has been a Canadian Who's Who biographer since 1994.
Maria Bizecki
Maria Bizecki
earned her Pharmacy degree with Great Distinction from the University
of Saskatchewan and did undergraduate volunteer work in the area
of Reproductive Biology. She specialized in Pharmacy by completing
a post-graduate Hospital Residency program in 1995 at the Foothills
Hospital in Calgary.
She has taken
an interest in and has heavily researched the area of gynecological
drug products. This background has given her the opportunity to
speak at numerous conferences and events. Since 1996, she has been
actively promoting a Conscience Clause for pharmacists, and recently
became spokesperson for Concerned Pharmacists for Conscience. Maria
presently lives in Calgary with her husband and two small boys,
with a third child due in June.
Shafer Parker
Shafer Parker
was born in Lufkin, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in music
education and later a Masters of Divinity degree from Mid-America
Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis,Tennessee (1991) .
In October
1994 Shafer began writing free-lance for The Alberta Report and
then was hired as a salaried journalist in January 1995. Presently
he is serving as one of several Senior Editors in the Edmonton office
with primary responsibility for providing Ontario news content.
While working as a journalist he continues to serve in a pastoral
capacity in the community. Mr. Parker is married to Jeanne and has
two sons.
Senator
Ann Cools
The Honourable
Senator Anne Cools is a graduate of McGill University and was appointed
to the Senate in 1984. Senator Cools was instrumental in creating
Social Services to assist battered women and families in crisis.
She was an instructor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University
of Toronto, Seneca College and Ryerson Poly-Technical Institute
in Toronto. She continues her work in the Senate to help strengthen
troubled families.
Gwen Landolt
Mrs. Landolt
is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of British Columbia
and was called to the bar in that province. She was employed in
general practice, worked as a crown prosecutor and as legal counsel
for the Federal government. She has attended UN conferences, written
extensively on pro-life, pro-family, constitutional and UN matters,
and has frequently appeared on national Canadian radio and television
programs. Gwen enjoys her family of five children and two grandchildren.
