A MESSAGE FROM REAL WOMEN OF CANADA ON SAME-SEX
MARRIAGE
Canada is undergoing a revolution in which
the Canadian public has been denied any participation.
The revolution will alter the foundation of
our society by allowing same-sex couples to enter into legal
marriages.
In this endeavour, the Canadian public has
been treated as a child - not a very bright child - who has
been lied to, manipulated and tricked, in order to convince
it that it has no choice but to obediently and blindly accept
the decision of a mere handful of individuals to grant same-sex
marriages. This handful of individuals include:
- Three judges of the Ontario Court of Appeal
who gleefully partied with the same-sex litigants at a reception
in Toronto on June 26, 2003. (See article "Judges Party
with Homosexual Activists.")
- Prime Minister Jean Chrétien and
the Minister of Justice, Martin Cauchon, who decided together
that there would be no appeal of the egregious Ontario court
decision on marriage, a decision dutifully rubber-stamped
by the Cabinet.
- Homosexual MP, Svend Robinson, who worked
co-operatively with Justice Minister Cauchon and the Chairman
of the House of Commons Justice and Human Rights Committee,
Andy Scott (Fredericton, NB), to derail the Justice Committee's
report on same-sex marriages.
(See article "The Sordid Story of How
the Same-sex Marriage Issue was Manuplated in Canada.")
These few individuals believe they have successfully
tricked and manipulated the public into accepting same-sex
marriage. But they have not succeeded in doing so.
REAL Women believes that the story as to how
the courts and the Liberal government have attempted to manipulate
the public should become public. Hence, much of this issue
of Reality covers the series of events leading up to
Mr. Cauchon's proposed legislation which was announced on
July 17, 2003. It is a story that no media outlet in Canada
has been prepared to reveal to date.
Remember though that the story has not yet
been completed. There are several chapters to follow. These
include:
1. An Appeal of Ontario Court of Appeal
Decision
Pro-family organizations, including REAL Women,
Focus on the Family and Canadian Family Action Coalition (CFAC),
as well as major faith-based groups, at enormous expense to
their respective organizations, have filed an application
for Leave to Appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. We have
little confidence in the objectivity of this court, but, nevertheless,
it is a window of opportunity that must be applied in order
to have our viewpoint part of the public record. (See article
"REAL Women of Canada Seeks Leave to Appeal to Supreme
Court on Same-sex Marriage," p.
)
2. Official Opposition in the House of
Commons
The official opposition party in the House
of Commons, the Alliance Party, is on record as opposing same-sex
marriage. It will introduce a motion on the definition of
marriage when Parliament resumes, and force a vote on the
issue before the Supreme Court reviews the government's same-sex
legislation.
3. Religious Leaders Awakening
Religious leaders in Canada have come awake
to the peril that is overtaking Canada. They are responding
to the same-sex marriage crisis. Not only are the religious
leaders (with the exception of the liberal United Church and
Unitarians), unhesitatingly participating in the court cases,
but they have set about, province by province, city by city
and town by town, church by church, to arouse its members
to this terrible disaster ahead of us.
These religious leaders know they failed on
the abortion issue, and they are determined that they will
not fail again. Religious organizations rightly believe that
their very existence is at stake in this mighty struggle.
Regardless of any soothing words that the Supreme Court of
Canada may hand down in its response to the government's Reference
to it, religious leaders know that it is only a matter of
time before another Supreme Court of Canada will order them
to perform same-sex marriages in obedience to "Charter
values," i.e. hedonist individualism, which will ultimately
push religion off the nation's stage even further into the
margins than it already occupies, thanks to the courts.
4. The Public
Last, but certainly not least, the Canadian
public still has a voice in this unhappy affair. In this regard,
the public opposed to same-sex marriage has some cards to
play. These include obviously large numbers, and the fact
that there will be a federal election some time after April
2004, when the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act will
have been completed by adding seven new seats - two in BC,
two in Alberta and three more in already voter-heavy Ontario.
The 2004 election will probably take place in June/July 2004.
This election makes every MP vulnerable, and each has to know
beyond a doubt that his/her future Parliamentary career depends
upon the "free" vote on the same-sex marriage issue.
It will be a recorded vote, so that the MPs' decision will
be a matter of public record for all to see.
Several chapters on the issue of same-sex
marriage have already been written. However, the final and
most important chapters are still ahead,.
