PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

As I see the gloriously colourful leaves falling quickly from the trees, it is apparent that winter is well on the way. Summer, with its hectic outdoor activities and vacation travels, has given way to a time of homebound pursuits and a time for reflection before we enter the busy Christmas season.

There is much on which to reflect. As you can well see from the articles in this newsletter, serious issues affecting the family face not just Canadians, but also the people in many other countries. REAL Women has been actively fighting, both at home and abroad, to preserve traditional family values.

It is not an easy fight. If one were to believe the popular news media, it would seem that traditional values are completely out of touch with the modern reality and REAL Women of Canada is hopelessly antiquated in its positions. We know better, of course. Still, it is particularly frustrating that the news media in Canada are almost entirely "liberal" in viewpoint.

There is one solace in this situation, and that is, surprisingly, through the Internet. Although the Internet can be greatly abused, it is also being used in a very positive way. There are many Internet sites that provide up-to-date news and views that support "conservative" values, and I find this most reassuring. A great deal of information is available through the Internet that will never reach the public through the Canadian news media. Up-to-date pro-life or political information is available, for example, from sites such as www.lifesite.com or www.townhall.com. To obtain a list of some excellent web sites, just go to www.realwomenca.com (our website) and click on "Links".

On a sad personal note, I would like to recommend that parents of teenage children visit www.chriscampbell.ca. This is a website which deals with the recent tragic motor vehicle accident death of my grandnephew, a wonderful 16-year-old lad who made a foolish decision and paid for it with his life. The website, set up by Chris' father in the hope of reaching other teenagers, imparts a powerful message.

As the year 2004 winds down, I would like to thank all of you who have been so faithful to REAL Women, and who have been so active on behalf of the traditional family values which have made Canada a great country in which to live. Especially I would like to thank you for your prayers, for it is only with the aid of our "prayer-warriors", I believe, that we have been able to accomplish so much!

May this Christmas season and New Year bring to you and your families a spirit of joy and peace.

God bless!
