REAL WOMEN OF CANADA AWARD 2005

REAL Women of Canada presents an award each year to an individual or group to recognize and honour their outstanding contribution to preserve and promote traditional family values in Canada.

This year we were delighted to present our award to the Toronto Chinese Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship. This latter community has made an outstanding contribution to Canada by upholding traditional marriage with both strength and grace. In 2003 and again in April this year, the community made a marvelous effort by sending many busloads of people to the rallies on Parliament Hill in support of traditional marriage. Grandmothers, parents, teenagers, children and babies from their community all came out to support this crucial issue, swelling the crowd at the rally in April this year to well over 15,000 people. Also, last year the community organized an extensive postcard campaign to Parliament in defence of traditional marriage.

We were honoured that the Reverend Daniel Lee (2005 Chairman) and the Rev. Chaldwin Mak (2004 Chairman, who had just returned from Hong Kong that day), together with their charming wives, attended our conference to receive the Award on behalf of the Toronto Chinese Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship.

The Chinese Evangelical Community has made a wonderful contribution to Canada, for which we are deeply grateful.
