PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
"Gee, I wish they could lighten up a
little!" This comment from a loyal supporter, who reads
our REALity newsletter from cover to cover, is probably echoed
by many of you who also feel a little depressed after reading
each edition of the REALity. This issue, for example, deals
with such alarming topics as child pornography, proliferation
of dangerous drugs, political skullduggery, etc.
How I wish we could lighten up a little! The
problem, however, is that there are many serious issues facing
Canadians that never seem to be reported in the popular news
media, whether it be radio, television or newspaper. When
such topics are reported, it is usually with a trendy liberal
bias, which does not project a clear picture of how our traditional
family values are being undermined.
It has been suggested in the past that perhaps
we could include something more lighthearted for some of our
readers, such as a "recipe corner", or "letters
from our readers". Unfortunately, most often we do not
have enough space even for the serious articles which must
be included. If we go beyond a certain number of pages in
the REALity, the postage costs become prohibitive. Incidentally,
the reason why we do not produce a glossy, heavier-weight
newsletter is again because we make every effort to keep the
expenses as low as possible.
Despite its modest appearance, more and more
we are hearing that our REALity newsletter is a valuable resource
for politicians and family values activists. (We are also
getting our share of complaints - not always nicely worded
- from what I will term "anti-family values activists").
As you well know, we do not mince words, whether we are discussing
government scandals or the homosexual agenda. We do our research
carefully, and have never been sued for disseminating false
information.
It has long been my philosophy that when I
am troubled by a situation, I must not simply complain, but
must do what I can to rectify matters, if only in a small
way. This, I believe, is the best method for dealing with
depressing situations. As you will note, after each article
we usually suggest to our readers that they do what they can
about the problem, such as phone their Member of Parliament,
write letters or send e-mails to appropriate officials, etc.
For those of you who are simply unable or too unsure of yourselves
to contact government officials, you can offer up your prayers.
Canada needs a lot of prayer!
In this newsletter there is an article about
not just the situation in Canada, but also about problems
facing the world due to population losses. My Danish son-in-law
has confirmed that marriage is not considered to be of any
great importance in his country, and that many couples have
a child first, then decide to get married. Despite generous
maternity leave benefits, the taxes in Denmark are prohibitive,
and families find it hard to cope without both parents in
the workforce. The Danes also have a rather "live and
let live" attitude toward sexual orientation, and while
the Lutheran Church receives state support, few people attend
church services. Despite his own rather liberal outlook, however,
my son-in-law felt Denmark was, in many ways, far more conservative
than Canada! I will say it again: Canada needs a lot of prayer!
God bless!
